Not likely, Chain links are not always in contact with each other and the chain does get corroded and also full of local underwater sealife.

Well well. Why not build the Faraday cage around the whole nav station, then shut it safe while under the cloud?

Could be done:

Power cables and antennae would need to be disconnected every time.
You would want a house battery inside too.
And a spare solar panel, one of those rollups would be good.
spare cabling and antennae too.


After a strike, string the new antennae with the spare cabling.
Set up the spare panel to keep the single battery going.

You will be able to keep basic navigation lights going, interior lights provided they are LED, a basic GPS, occasionally VHF, and very occasionally the radar.
