Raytheon rl80 Shuts Down After Power-Up

My display shuts off ,during magnetron warm-up (sometimes after a couple of sweeps). A click is heard when the display shuts off.

Trace your power cable and verify that it is intact, no corrosion, adequate voltage. Sort of sounds like inadequate power.

Do you have a CMap chip installed? A faulty/corrupt chip could also do this.

Try disconnecting all the instruments, transducers, seatalk, etc. Does it still do it? If not, then start connecting them again, one at a time. You could have a faulty connection to one of them.

Does it restart, or stay off?

My Raymarine plotter did this in February, turned out the Cmap chip
terminals were corroded the tech recommended polishing them with a pencil eraser I did and it has worked fine ever since.
It may not be the same in your case but an easy fix if it is.
Good luck,
Steve

Hi, Steve -- Good tip on the eraser. How are things in Thibodaux? My aunt used to live in Venice and I just shudder when I watch the news.
