raymarine st4000 auto pilot

I have a raymarine st4000 auto pilot, I get a low battery message ,I have checked wiring and voltage to control head. all is good.
per Raymarine tech, problem is bad control head....Raymarine does not service this unit any longer....
does anyone know of any place that does repairs on this unit or where I can find a used one...or is it worth trying to repair......

Check eBay, there are sellers/repairers of ray stuff.
There are ones that list in their description that they do repairs also.

Here is a link for you. His name is Dan Gerhardt, he has been on the forum before and is also on ebay. He does repairs and also sells units that have been repaired. He is very good and guarantees his work.

FWIW, apparently they are somewhat repairable. Have seen reports that some people with electronic repair ability have switched out some components with success. Don't know how extensive the repairs that can be done. Might try to search this website for possible hints.

Short of an actual electrical problem, just about any inadvertent button pressed on the unit will give you that error message. I went nuts troubleshooting until I realized that somebody in the cockpit was hitting buttons with their butt! (Mine is mounted on the inside of the cockpit in the backrest - great job original owner!)
RayMarine has a 4000MK2 replacement that can be easier to find.
