Raymarine S3g on STng ?

I'm trying to consolidate my electronics setup and allow my autopilot to steer to wind.

Currently I have:
-Raymarine (seatalk1)S3g autopilot
-Raymarine (seatalk1)Wireless smartcontroller.
-Raymarine (seatalk1)6002 control head
-Garmin (NMEA2000) GMI10 Display
-Garmin (NMEA2000) GWS10 Wind
-Garmin (NMEA2000) DST800 Depth, Speed, Temp

I'm thinking of replacing the GMI10 and 6002 with Raymarine P70 and i70.

The Raymarine tech support was not too convincing, but in the end said this can be done with a single Cable between the p70 and the seatalk1 network. This is shown on page 26 of the manual:http://www.raymarine.eu/WorkArea/Dow...t.aspx?id=2823

A local electronics shop says I need the Seatalk1 to SeatalkNG bridge, but when I look at that manual it specifically says no autopilot controllers ?

Another raymarine document shows a smartcontroller connected to the bridge:http://www.raymarine.com/WorkArea/li...020&libID=4208

I don't want to spend a bunch of money on something that won't work.

Anyone have or tried a similar setup ? Working ? Problems ?

Cheers,
JM.

I already have Wind, depth, STW, on NMEA2000.
I'm trying to move forward.

Raymarine's documentation is out of date. If you check their support forum, the latest firmware for the ST/STng converter supports their SeaTalk autopilots.
