I have a
Raymarine A65 MFD with a 3rd party
AIS. The
AIS works great, but I am having issues getting it to talk to the A65. I "thought" it would be as simple as connecting it to the
NMEA 2000 network and then I realized that the A65 can not get AIS data through
NMEA 2000. It can receive it through 0183, of course this unit does not have a 0183 connection.
After a discussion with support, they were a little wishy washy on which path to take. They said I could buy the backbone, spur etc Or possibly using a Gemeco converter to to get the input via 0183.
Before I start
buying a bunch of cabling that may or may not
work, I would love to hear if anyone on here has used the converter or if the
seatalk backbone to 0183 will
work.
Thanks.
