Raymarine depth dropping out??? Help!

Hello fellow cruisers,
I have a 2008 Lagoon 440 with Raymarine E120's installed as well as the Raymarine tri-data. The digital depth reading on the tri-data has never failed but on regular occassions the depth drops out on the E120- either in heavily sediment laden water or in depths > 20 metres.
I noticed that the transducers are independent of each other but spaced only 30cm away from each other.
I was wondering if anyone could advise on where I should start looking for the fault.
Thanking you in advance.

I don't understand - the E120 does not have an integrated sounder, and neither does the ST-60 tridata. Since you say the two "transducers" are only 30cm apart, I'll make a guess that you may have an ST-60 sounder and possibly a DSM-300 sounder installed as well?

In my experience, the DSM sounder combined with a BL-744 transducer is notorious for losing the bottom. And since the E120 treats data received via the SeaTalkHS port with a higher priority than the "same" data, the dropouts you see are "normal". You can try enabling the interference rejection option in the E120's fish finder configuration setup and see if that helps.

Of course, I could be making the wrong assumption.

Re: Raymarine depth dropping out??? Help!

Every depth unit I've ever used gets confused in sediment/great depth. I think it's endemic to the transducers which IIRC are pretty much all Airmar units, right?
