the "E" series will plug directly in place of the "C" series, it has more connections etc but that doesnt matter

dont know what you mean by direct tv remotes. Raymarine has a dedicated wireless remote for its autopilot, thats all that workes

The E80 is much thicker than the C80. If you're installing at your helm, be wary of that...some pods just dont fit it!

I think you mean this

Nothing to do with TV remotes

replacing a c80 with an e80

I just finnished replacing my C80 with an E80 on my upper helm and an E80 on my lower helm. The reason I installed an E80, was to gain the ability to have two chart plotters at two different stearing station on my 42' Trawler.

Some of the connections on the E80 are different then a C80. The radar connection is the same, the power connection is the same, but the Seatalk cable is different. The three pronged crescent Seatalk cable that is on the C80 is not present on the E80.

You have to connect the GPS and Autopilot with the Seatalk/alarm out cable. Remember to power the GPS and the Seatalk cable with 12V. All properly fused of course.

If you aren't planning to network two chart plotters there is not much sense in replacing the C80 with the E80.

The two chart plotters are then connected with an HS cable
