Yup.. I got one on my boat.. I just refurbished it by replacing the backlight and polishing the acrylic in front of the screen. I use it as a backup plotter and a radar screen.

You can update the software, then buy an adapter at WM or Defender then use modern Navionics chips.

The only downside is no NMEA2000 connection.

What's your overall opinion of the chart plotter and radar features

Worked fine. The radar overlay is handy. If you need charts I have 2 chips covering NA east coast and Bahamas. I posted these for sale some time ago. If interested do a search, it's in the classifieds somewhere.

Re: Raymarine C80

Its old, but is well built (I tore mine completely apart) and easy to use. Being old, the software is very polished and has pretty much zero bugs.

As long as all the components are installed (i.e. compass, gps, wind) then the C80 can do MARPA with the radar. MARPA is fantastic when trying to navigate a busy shipping lane. A great compliment to AIS. The radar is not Broadband, but still offers good resolution and was top notch in its day!

I also have my C80 hooked up to a Vesper AIS via NMEA0183 and it displays AIS targets without issue.

Depending on what you plan to do with the boat, I don't think a C80 will be an issue. Especially if it has been taken care of!

Like I said, you can use modern chips with this plotter so finding charts is super easy.
