I now have the new Radome installed on the mast, on a mast mount which has worked out very well and now I am about to run the cable to the C-80 MFD. I was hoping I had a channel internal in the mast to run the cable but there is only one from the masthead down, a one inch section which is already quite full with the lights cables and RG-8 for the VHF. I don't think the Radar cable will fit also. I'm not keen on the idea of dropping the mast so what are my options? A loose cable inside the mast, or a conduct on the outside of the mast with the cable inside it? Is there a better alternative out there amongst the combined wisdom of the cruisers forum?
There are also Wind Instrument cable, Mobile Phone and TV aerial cables going down the rear located internal conduct and an easy way to get the cable into and out would be appreciated if there is an easy way.
Also I haven’t yet made a decision on how to get the cable thru the deck. My mast is keel stepped with a hinged tabernacle and welded seal just above deck level allowing the mast to be lowered but that is another question to be presented when the rigging gets replaced next year.
Thanks in advance for the help and suggestions that may arrive.
Fabian

I don't know if this is still a viable option but some new radar cables are nothing more than a power wire and an ethernet cable, which are smaller than traditional radar cables.
