PC Software to connect via Raynet HS to chartplotter and get N2K data, charts, radar

Hello,

seems Raymarine has discontinued the Raymarine RayTech RNS PC software, is there another option to get the N2K, radar, AIS data, charts, display mirror on a PC display via the Ethernet connection of Raymarine, maybe open source or via OpenCPN???

What are the options to access and use the Ethernet connection by a PC?

RayTech RNS

Thank you very much!

What model plotter do you have? Sounds like you don't have one new enough for the Wifi features and Tablet apps.

To my knowledge there is nothing that supports SeaTalkHS as its propietary.

You can use an NMEA to Wifi device to get ais, gps, instrument, etc data to a laptop or tablet, but that won't allow you to access the radar or the chart sharing.

If you really want to display mirror, then you would need to update the plotter to a newer one with wifi. As long as your radar is on SeaTalkHS it will work with the new plotter. Add a Seatalk1 to SeatalkNG converter and all your existing instruments will continue to work.

it is a e125 and a e127. Display mirroring works only on android or iphone, but not on a pc. Also it works only on p2p Wlan config and not on a router based wlan, what makes all other apps useless.

Raymarine had a software for pc for the wired ethernet port, where also the radar data is mirrored, but seem not to deliver it any more.

With those models you might try Raymarine Voyage Planner. Might do much of what you want. http://www.raymarine.com/view/?id=3218

Yes, that is the software. You need a key to unlock the connectivity to the chartplotter, but they do not sell them anymore... The planner is the free offline version, but you need the card reader dongle from raymarine to use it... So not really free. I wonder if they still sale the card reader...

Years ago I used the Raytech 5, later 6, with the e-80 plotter. A CF card with charts could be either in the plotter, or in a separate USB-card reader. Either way the Raytech SW displayed the charts.

So I think you "only" need a key to activate the planner to make it a full fledged Raytech RNS 6.2

Any reason you can't use a Tablet (other than having to buy one?) A WiFi Only iPad/Android running Navionics Boating or iNavX will do an awesome job. An iPad with LTE has a built in GPS as well, but you can also use a Bluetooth GPS (Garmin or Bad Elf) to make the iPad or Android tablet work independently of the plotter if you want.

Navionics Boating syncs with Raymarine plotters over WiFi, and Raymarine has free apps that mirror the plotter including Radar, etc just as you want. A PC is great as a standalone planner, plotter, weather forecaster, and communications device, but the portable iPad is becoming the industry standard for Plotter integration and augmenting.

I know it's not the answer you are looking for.

After I initially posted the link to Voyage Planner, I followed the link to buy it and sure enough they don't seem to actually have it anymore.
