Pactor Weather / Setup

I have a pactor ptc IIex. I have tried to get weather data using meteo and jvc. Set up is icom 802 with pactor modem and com port on an older xp machine Itronix go book. I assume there is a driver for the pactor but don't have the cd. This one is a bit hard for me to get around. I get blurry scans of something but not a weatherfax. Scs says I can down load everyhting I need from their site. Uhhhg I need a pactor coach

I'd use Airmail and Viewfax software. The Pactor does not need a kernel driver.

G'Day Sabray,

I'm using a very similar setup, except an Icom 746 instead of the 802. Using JVcomm32 it was essentially plug and play. Of course, you must configure the JVComm for your own parameters, but I bet that you have done that. The slant adjustment in particular can cause the fax to be so distorted as to be unrecognizeable. If you have that adjusted correctly, then... I'd guess that you might simply have a bad sig:noise ratio leading to a bad picture.

Airmail and viewfax will also work here, as Daddle says. I happen to prefer the JVC approach to displaying the charts, but that's an individual choice.

Keep on trying... it's a good setup.

Cheers,
