P79 Airmar transducer compatibility

I have raymarine instruments and wanted to get a Digital sounder module DSM300 and an in-hull transducer. i am seeing that Airmar made a lot of different P79 transducers. But prices and compatibility is not very good. Is compatibility only due to connector pinout, or is there anything else.

Some P79 transducers go for 100-200$ while some are < 50$. looking at airmar cross compatibility tables, they mostly show three usable wires, Blue (Piezo+), black (Piezo-) and bare the shield. Some transducers have a cap to shield shown in schematic. If one sticks with 50/200 KHz P79 transducers, would any one of them work as long as you get the pins connected properly.

It would seem you are paying extra 100-150$ for a connector. That would be insane.

I would think they are all the same except the connector. there is also a nmea2000 version which is different.
