Re: OpenPlotter project

I would like to get involved in this project but I would prefer something other than Drupal. I have tons of experience developing web sites and applications (including CMS) using AngularJS, Ruby on Rails and NodeJS. NodeJS is my preferred platform at the moment for web apps. The interfacing to upload data from boats will probably be much easier with an API for a NodeJs web app than a Drupal site. There are a number of NodeJS based CMS systems which could be used as a starting point.

Vamonos, do you read my mind? it is not the first time. Have you hacked my computer?

I have been mulling over it for a long time. My perfect scenario would be:

openmarine.net getting data from boats equipped with OpenPlotter and sending data to them as you suggested.

Besides this, it could be a site where users could share their OpenPlotter assemblies. OpenPlotter has more than 600 downloads so I think there are a lot of people hacking their boats.

It could be a site to centralize support. This thread and others are a good site to spread the word but now is too long for working as support site (the thread on the spanish forum has more than 1500 post).

I see it as a community site running over some kind of CMS. I am used to work with Drupal CMS and it could be a perfect tool to manage users profiles and secure connections with external services (AWS/IoT...) through webservices.

Who is in?

Interesting thought. It was never our intention to run that part of the app from within Drupal. Drupal was merely a way to get an initial site up where we could start discussing and supporting the community. I agree that trying to tie the data upload/viewing code into Drupal would be a bit of a nightmare. If you are interested in joining the discussion, I can add you to our "Slack" team where Sailoog and Monstads have discussed some of the technology. PM me an email address and I'll invite you to the team.

You were right, this was a big bug
We migrated to a CLI calibration tool and never tested deeply. With the new opengl features of the latest raspbian, I have migrated again to an extended GUI calibration tool like the picture below. I am about to publish the new RPI 0/1/2/3 image

Hi Sailoog,

Thanks for your assistance. I use the Shipmodul Multiplex-2USB. When I connect it a device called 'shipmodul1' becomes visible. When entering this in the dialogbox (i.e. /dev/shipmodul1', the inspector does not detect any NMEA data.

Re: OpenPlotter project

Here we go...

Test OpenPlotter v0.7.1beta | Sailoog

Now with NMEA 2000

OpenPlotter Raspberry 2 & 3 compatible. Download and create the SD as usual. If no bugs are reported, I will add translations and some improvements and release the v0.7.1 stable version ASAP.

I am really looking forward to and open Hardware/Software alternative.

Cheaper is good too.

Can you point me to the project you are referring to ?

Cheers,

No idea. Could you provide more data about crash conditions? OP version, connected devices, etc.

Re: OpenPlotter project

NGT-1 so long as it has an electrically isolated output. Mostly the NGT units are used because they isolate the laptop or main server which causes damage. I made my own as the NGT unit is very expensive. For N2K networks, an isolated CAN bus works. I chose to stay with 0183 RS422 standard due to noise immunity and experience with these networks. I must admit, i found it very poor that companies mix RS232 RS485 and RS422. Then there is +-12v 5v ttl all mixed up
