openCPN

I am starting to tear my hair out here. I have upgraded the ships Laptop and program to Windows 7(old laptop was running Windows XP). I have reinstalled openCPN Version 3 and downloaded my charts from the disc. My problem is that for the life of me I cannot get the openCPN programme to read my charts. They are all listed in "my documents" on the laptop and I have identified "my documents" as the chart directory under charts in the programme under charts. GPS is functioning properly. Can anybody help me please.

Re: openCPN

Copy your charts in the C:\ drive: it works better (you could create a new folder in C:\ and name it "Charts", for instance)

Re: openCPN

phill23...
Thanks for switching to the forum
Please note that the OpenCPN forum where all the folks who can really help you are daily is at OpenCPN - Cruisers & Sailing Forums It would be great if you could post your OpenCPN related stuff there as it's the place where someone will see it.
Please have a look at Installing OpenCPN | Official OpenCPN Homepage and post the logfile so we can have a look at it (scroll down the page to Location of Important Files. Log and config files. to find out how to locate it on your system)
Are you sure your charts are properly copied? It means for example not packaged in ZIP archives or something like that?

Re: openCPN

Many many thanks for your help and tolerance, I am getting out of my depth here.
The log location file I have identified is:
Logfile location:c:\ProgramData\opencpn\opencpn.log
Config file location:c:\Programdata\opencpn\open.cpn.ini

When I enter into the address field in a web browser I get data I neither understand nor know what to do with.
