Re: OLD BOAT RADAR

Hard to say without knowing the make, year and pinout of the radome and the make, year and pin-in of the display you wish to use.

Re: OLD BOAT RADAR

Radar Domes are match to the display equipment. Some are CRT with a lot of cabling, some are LCD flat panel, some have most of the control electronics in the radar dome and the newer digital types communicate between radar dome and display with one pair of wires plus power.(serial communications). So unless you are an electronics engineer with a lot of time on your hands you will need the corresponding display for the Radardome. Good luck.

I fully agree with that statement. If it is an old RADOME, chances are high, that it will only fit to the original radar set. This is because the so-called anlog radar sets did all the signal processing in the PPI unit. (They still do so)

If it is a so-called digital radar scanner (antenna) then there is a chance to fit it to some other than the original set, because all the signal processing is done in the scanner unit.

Re: OLD BOAT RADAR

My experience is if something fails... it's usually the radome. You might be better to buy a used complete, working set.
