Oasis Firefly carbon foam battery reviews?

I think I've googled about all I can and read some forum Reviews on the Oasis carbon foam batterys. Haven't heard anything bad about them. Looking to replace my alternator and battery bank. Was going to go with lithium but I feel it's too much involved in the unit and something is bound to go wrong. And to be honest I don't believe the numbers stated. I don't think these are tested asi would use them ( depleting all the way down to 10% and partial charges etc. Generally beating the hell out of them. Obviously this is just my assumption. Being in the industrial construction trade I see engineer know it alls and college degreed idiots all day. Who can prove this and that on paper but..... Any how... Has any one gas the firefly's for an extended time and have any opinions? I plan on using my 3gm30f with Balmar XT-DF-170-J10-KIT.

They are **better** than other AGM at withstanding a very deep discharge, but **every. single. chemistry.** will have its lifespan drastically shortened by regularly going that low.

Why would you do that?

Just size up Ah capacity a bit more and put an LVC or visible/audible alarm when you hit say 11.8V under load 11.7 if higher C-rate.

Especially at $5 per Ah.

Really the USP for Firefly is chronic PSOC, just can't get them back to 100% Full for a week at a time or more.

Sometimes you'll find the same problem here on CF. Especially in threads concerning boat electrics.

See one user's review from CF in 2017. Check with me in a few years, I just bought 4 of them. I felt they were a good alternative after looking at the cost of switching to lithium batteries. Inexpesnive? No, with tax & shipping close to $600/ battery. If they do something close to what they are touted to do the overall $/Ah should come out less than a $400 East Penn or similar.

2 full seasons on 2 firefly*batteries*in parallel.

So far so good they've been excellent. They charge fast and deliver a good power. When I'm out cruising I do discharge them quite deeply.. so far they don't seem to care that I am beating them up. I should probably equalize them at some point.

The directions come with information about charging but it's pretty close to a lead acid battery. If you have a*Balmar*style alternator that is externally regulated you may want to check the charge voltage to ensure it complies.

But after two seasons it's taking all I can throw at it, I'm wondering why they even make any other kind of battery!

I'm impressed.

We installed two Firefly batteries before leaving to go cruising. We would have had to install 3 batteries if we had gone with traditional AGMs.

Anything electrical is not our strong suit so frankly after installing them we've simply left them alone. We have a Balmar to check on how they are doing, and until we bought an Engel they rarely dropped below 90%, but we don't have a large electrical footprint on our boat.

We wouldn't hesitate to buy them again.
