Boat: Looking and saving for my next...mid-atlantic coast

I'd like to get a sense of where people are getting their electronics cheaply? e.g. NX45 12" plotter for nav station $1,900

Its it better to buy online via places like gpsstore, defender? some place else? Or better to buy through local boat electronics installer and have them do the work? How do you guys get the most for your money?
