Need recommendation on a 12.1inch monitor

Hi,

I am installing a PC on the boat and require a 12.1inch monitor suitable for panel mounting and operable on 12vdc.

I have found two candidate monitors but these are water proof, sunlight viewable and very expensive. The monitor will be in the pilothouse so "waterproof" is not necessary and "sunlight viewable" is also not necessary (though a NITS value of 300+ would be preferred).

I have a severe space constraint meaning the maximum height overall of monitor cannot be more than 240mm (9.45inch). There is, within reason, no constraint on monitor depth or width.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Regards,

Why not a laptop? They make nice movable stands and mounts that handle seas well.

I don't know anything about this website or brand but a monitor like this might fit your needs.

Re: Need recommendation on a 12.1inch monitor

In my own projects, I found finding small monitors a challenge. I found many 17 inch very power efficient units and every time I can, I go for one of them.

The alternative is to go for a tablet based system - there are many tablets in the 7 to 10 inch range.

You can use a Samsung photo frame that serves as a monitor and links via the USB (they are 8-10 dia inch), but these again have limited screen resolution.

Go for one with LED lighting if you can.

I have a Samsung BX2231it is ideal as is designed to run off 12v or 14.5v adapter so it's easy to convert to a direct feed from the boats power supply. It consumes less than 1A.

However it does not have easy wall mounting so does not meet all your requirements.

If you could go with a articulating mount instead you could get a 12 v led tv dvd combo. We almost got one but our AC version will work off a 75 watt cigg style inverter

Be careful some of the TVs use significantly more power than a monitor.
