I also build my own LEDS from raw components (currently used in RVs).

One thing to look for is LEDS that are rated for both AC and DC. YOU DO NOT WANT THESE. If they are rated for both, they have a bridge rectifier. I have found the vast majority of driver boards with a bridge rectifier are very noisy, I mean super noisy. I look for drivers rated for only DC, or I disable the bridge rectifier (involves desoldering).
