Need Help key in User channels on a New SSB Fs-1503

Please I need help on the steps to follow to key in user channels in a Brand New FS-1503 furuno SSB radio as I have tried following the instruction on the user manual it's not working using the 9999 password I saw on the manual,I heard it requires a software for expansion of it's frequency. Don't know how true it is or where to get the software. Please need responses ASAP. Thanks

Re: Need Help key in User channels on a New SSB Fs-1503

If you are seeing a step that says you have to enter a password in system channel 9999 then it seems you are following the Service Manual, which is intended for dealers, etc. You may or may not get someone here who can/will divulge the password.

The user channels can be programmed (frequencies, mode, and name for 0-65) without the password (with the password you can also change power settings per channel and a few other things).

Software is also available to the dealer that makes this all much simpler, but without it you can still change channels one at a time.

Quote:
3.3 Writing User Channels

The user channels may write user Tx channels. (Rx channels may also be written where permitted.)

1. Turn on the power while pressing the [CH] key. Release the key when MEMO appears.

2. Rotate the [FREQ/CH] control clockwise to display desired channel no. “R” appears (Rx frequency writing mode).

3. Press the [MODE/1] key to select class of emission.

4. Press the [CH] key. Key in Rx frequency with the numeric keys (0-9) and press the [ENT] key. If you are only writing Rx frequency go to step 8.

5. Rotate the [FREQ/CH] control clockwise. “T” appears (Tx frequency writing mode).

6. Enter Tx frequency like you entered Rx frequency.

7. Rotate the [FREQ/CH] control clockwise. If no station name have been written you will see seven dashes. If station name cannot be entered for a particular station, the next channel number appears.

8. Press the [CH] key to enter station name or write over existing name. The
cursor appears. A station name may consist of seven characters, hyphens, alphabet, numerics and spaces are available.

9. Operate the [FREQ/CH] control to display character desired and press the [ENT] key. To enter a space or shift the cursor press the [ENT] key. To erase station name, press [CH], [0] and [ENT]. When seven characters are entered, the cursor disappears.

10. Turn off the power to register channels.
[Edit] A couple of other notes:

The above is direct from the manual, and says that Tx frequencies can be programmed and Rx may be programmed. The opposite is actually true - the user Rx frequencies can be programmed, Tx may be programmable.

Whether or not the Tx frequencies can be programmed by the user depends on where the radio was originally sold (or intended to be sold by Furuno when it was shipped). If you can't program the Tx frequencies as shown above then you will need to talk with a dealer or find the password somewhere and go through the Service Manual procedure you already have.[/Edit]
