Seems like the built in antenna is pretty robust...
So that begs the question, is there really a need to add an external antenna?
What are some user experiences without an external antenna on passages and various places outside US waters?

Last boat was a Center Console fishing
boat that I put a 740S and Radar
I was thinking that I would have to have an external GPS antenna as I flush mounted it in the console, and it was directly centered under the aluminum
I kept the boat on a trailer inside of a metal aircraft hangar, after the install I turned it on and even inside of a metal building it was tracking 9 satellites.
I never worried about an external antenna after that.
