Navpod vs Edison

I am going to be putting a navigation pod on my boat and installing a new chartplotter.
I am looking at:
Vision Pod Instrument Housing

vs

I like the idea that the Edson's face is black. I find i was getting a lot of glare off of the white on my old Navpod.

Anyone have any opinions?

I've got a Navpod and it works fine. Glare? Never noticed it. Navpod has a better price too.

FWIW

I have a navpod which thwarted the theft of my radar and plotter...It pretty gouged up but still intact.

That's another good point, takes a special screwdriver to work on them.

Yep, and you can buy those special screwdrivers just about anywhere.

Except when you legitimately really need it.

I've got a NavPod and it uses long screws to hold the face in that have allen heads where the wrench has a hollowed out hex inner center. Haven't ever seen one of those at my local Ace. But then i only use two of the screws to hold it in when i go out, and when i return, remove it and either take it home with me or put it below, leaving the pod empty.

bob, you are doing good. Believe me those tools are very easily found. I do electronics installs and loose mine all the time. I usually can go to the local hardware store or auto supply and buy another one.
