Thumbs up Navman Customer Service

People are always quick to complain (as they should be!) about rotten customer service , but you don't often hear about things going right.

I had the opportunity to call the US distributor of Navman instruments to see if they could help sort out a problem with communication problems between my autopilot and wind instrument. First surprise was immediately being connected with somebody who knew what they were talking about.

After hearing my symptoms and running through the standard questions, his first conclusion was "That's bizarre!" It was encouraging to hear that I had not overlooked something obvious. His ultimate conclusion was that the autopilot computer is somehow at fault.

He offered to replace it on a simple exchange when we return the old one (expect a 3 week turnaround), or as an "advance replacement" where they ship out a new one and they bill a credit card and reverse the charge when we return the old one. He never even asked if it was still under warranty (which it is BTW).

If their follow up is as good as their initial effort, I'll be a very happy customer.

(The fine print: I have NO connection, other than as a customer, with the manufacturer, distributor, or any seller of this product.)
