Navicom RT-650

Hi all,
I have just purchased a boat with a Navicom RT-650 installed. great radio but the MMSI no. installed is wrong.
The boat was registered in france with a french MMSI no. and I have re registered the boat in UK and have been given a new MMSI no.
Does anyone know how to delete an existing MMSI number. The manual says that entering an MMSI number is a once and only event, but surely there must be a way of deleting an incorrect number.
Any help would be much appreciated
Regards
Guisachan

Re: Navicom RT-650

I would contact a Navicom service point and ask them to do the job. Then just ask if it was done properly.

Have seen the same issue on other MMSI coded equipment before. (Simrad AIS).

Re: Navicom RT-650

Hi Barnakiel,
many thanks for your advice, I have been in touch with Navicom and they say the same. I was rather hoping to be able to do the job without having to take the radio out of its mountings again.
It would appear that most DSC VHF radios use the same burnt in MMSI system and a reprogramme of the radio is required.
Once again, many thanks

Re: Navicom RT-650

The handbook of my Navicom RT-450 VHF says "to return the equipment to an accredited dealer for reset", to change an incorrect MMSI.
