Navico TP300C Tillerpilot Fluxgate

Hi All, would anyone out there know where I could source the original Fluxgate compass from a Navico TP300c (Simrad)? It is definately the Fluxgate that has failed. SImrad do not support this product anymore, so tryi to find the OEM would be good.
Alternatively any low cost recommendations for an external NMEA 0183 Fluxgate.
Thanks and Cheers
Ding

Re: Navico TP300C Tillerpilot Fluxgate

For the price of an NMEA0183 compass you can almost buy a new tiller pilot. You could most likely use the compass from a TP32, if you could find one. Or find the part number of your current compass and cross-reference it to find a suitable replacement.

I actually don't know of anyone supplying internal parts for tiller pilots. I'll have to bring that up to my boss next week. I'm sure it's not a very lucrative market.

Re: Navico TP300C Tillerpilot Fluxgate

Thanks KeelMe, we typically use our boat for sailing around the bay and overnight stays at the islands etc so a new A/P in Aust is around $1100, so justifying the expense can be a little difficult. Hence the option for a cost effective external fluxgate. The Navico unit has been a good unit in its time, but has suffered from age in as much as the insulation has failed on those tiny wires coming from the fluxgate. I seem to remember someone did a post a long time ago that they manufactured the fluxgate for Navico but can't find it. Anyway, possible solution is to use a hand held GPS we have and get the NMEA data from that. Can't find much info on the TP300C as in the version of NMEA they used, so compatability may be an issue. At least it will be a permanent supply for the GPS if all else fails.
Thanks for the response

It is NMEA 0183.

Here is a manual for the TP300CX which is the exact same autopilot hardware I believe. You would have to confirm.

It's an awful scan but it may help you.

Thumbs up Re: Navico TP300C Tillerpilot Fluxgate

Thanks KeelMe, I'll have a look. With any sort of luck, it may work. Just keep an eye out for Murphy.
Cheers

Re: Navico TP300C Tillerpilot Fluxgate

Hi, My name is Tom LaMers and I have been providing free service for Navico Corus instruments and Pilots since Simrad discontinued repair services in 2007.

You may be able to merely connect a Navico Corus ATC600 (Corus network magnetic compass module) to the TP300C via the Corus connections. The pilot will default to the external unit.

I have an inventory of these units. I also can remove the compass element from a pilot or ATC and either put it in your TP300C or send it to you for installation. Probably safest to send the Pilot to me as the connections are very easily damaged.
