Navico Gofree login?

According to the advanced setup docs, the gofree router has some sort of web control panel, just like any other AP. What I can't seem to find if the login to use to get into it. I've tried searching and googling with no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Dave.

Never mind -it's admin / admin. T'would be nice if they put it in the docs, tho'

Oh, and the admin panel fails completely on the iPad web browser. It took a couple of refreshes to get it working with Firefox on widows. So far I'm not impressed...

Yeah, kinda like needing to remember DOS commands to run a GUI.

How are you finding your gofree?I'm kind of a bit disappointed with it, the only thing I can find of use is the ipad app and that is very leggy. I'm sure it used to be better but maybe I've turned some setting on that slows it down.

Do you use your go free for anything else?

Re: Navico Gofree login?

Well, I was planning on using the gofree as my central wifi hub. I don't actually have any Navico gear on board (yet). The failure of the admin interface on ipad has brought me to a pause. I haven't quite decided if that is a show-stopper or not. I do almost everything on my ipad. I almost never boot the laptop any more. On the one hand, once a router is set up, you rarely have to log into it. On the other hand, it's a real pain and annoyance to have to fire up a laptop any time I want to change an uplink or the like. So. bottom line, I haven't done much with it and I am not sure if I will or not.

Add to that the fact that the bloody Brookhouse iMux can't turn off DHCP and you get a not-happy me. All I ask is for companies to build solid, functional products.

Re: Navico Gofree login?

I was thinking the same, but as I can't use the go-free to connect to the internet, it really would just be used to connect local computers together.

After buying what I've found I really need is a router with long range wifi to allow me to connect to hotspots + have built in cellular. If the goFree had those I'd be all smiles.

As it stands (for me at least) I'm looking at trying to add these devices into the goFree network world, or just buying a device that does all of the above.

In terms of the admin interface, what do you need this for exactly? If it's the one I'm thinking of that you get to via 192.168.1.1 there's very little you can do with this anyhow?

Re: Navico Gofree login?

Meh - looks like I never posted my reply.

You can use the gofree to connect to the internet, I think. My plan is to set its default route to a hotspot (my phone at the moment), and then point all other devices to the gofree.

Since it supports multiple SSIDs , I should be able to put the hotspot on one SSID and everything else on another, giving me a sort of poor-man's VLAN setup.

I am depending on that aspect to solve my "iMUX won't stop doing DHCP" problem.

This is all assuming the gofree will route between SSIDs. If not, the whole game falls apart & we go back to the drawing board. I just have to get time to try putting it all together. I'll post the progress / results.

Re: Navico Gofree login?

Would be amazing if you could, I.e. Log into a hotspot with the gofree, and then share that internet connection to everything else on the boat.
So far I haven't found a way of doing this though.

The other issue I have is my gofree is on the same switch as all my instruments. I need a way of putting this on its own switch I think.

Re: Navico Gofree login?

Does anyone know what the login and password are for the GoFree WIFI 1 router accessing through a web browser? I have tried admin / admin as well as super / super but to no avail. They must change it regularly to keep us guessing.
Thanks in advance

Re: Navico Gofree login?

Super / super works for me with a unit bought about a year ago. It is possible to change it. If that happened and you don't know the current password, there's a reset button on the unit to restore factory defaults.

Re: Navico Gofree login?

David, Thank you. That works with a slight modification. The login is super (lower case) and the password is the same as through the MFD. Thanks again.
