Navico

Simrad always had a pretty good rep. Has anyone installed their stuff since they were bought by Navico? What did you buy and what do you think?

When was it?

We installed their AIS last Nov. Works as advertised.

Friend's boat has full set from Simrad. No complaints heard either.

BTW Garmin to buy Raymarine.

They also own Northstar and Navman I have the Simrad tiller pilot and the navman depth/speed. I needed an extenstion for the tiller pilot it was backordered for 3 months. control head for navman went out it was backordered for 6 months. I hope they improve the service dept. as I like the Simrad products but I will not purchase any more products from them until I can count on prompt service

This must be some other brand, and not Simrad,Northstar,Lowrance,Navman,B&G.(could be more brands ?) = NAVICO.

Navico is just a finans company investing where they think they will get good profits.

I've never seen anything labelled Navico. Maybe you mean Navman.

I do kind of wonder how many parts will be swapped around the brands. There is no point in the takeover if you can't do stuff like that. TV sets went that way years ago.

It strikes me as a cost saving but not necessarily an improvement.

Re: Navico

Navico, was an old brand that Lowrance/Simrad reactivated to act as a holding company. Originally it was a small company baded in teh UK, and was bought by SImrad. They made VHfs and some other stuff
