MFM Mounting on Pedestal

We have a Swan 43 Ron Holland and are looking to add some new B&G electronics. Currently there is nothing at the helm position except the autopilot head on the port side. The pedestal guard is fairly small, typical for 80's Swans, and the installer does not carry any ready made pods that would allow the guard to still be used as a grab rail. I have noticed that the MFM's come with their own mounting bracket. Has anyone mounted one of these on a boat and left it exposed it the elements? I realize some sort of theft protection would have to be used. Here is a picture of a sister ship.

I have a similar setup with my binnacle. My MFD is mounted on a small arm that swings out when in use - otherwise , it tucks nicely behind the bar. Also, I have a wheel / binnacle cover that protects everything from the elements.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the picture! Is that a Ram mount? Have you had any issues due to exposure to the elements?
