Mast: base wiring connections

Looking for some tips on how to replace the exiting electical connetions at the base of my mast. Existing light and antena wires exit the mast and and clip to matching leads that emerge from the deck. Looking to clean it up and keep connetions out of the elements. Sailing Lake Erie / Contest 29.

I use the 2 part weatherproof connectors that SCREW together with the wire lead tightened into set screws inside the housings. The bottom portion of the connector is screwed down to the deck with appropriate sealer used.

Another type for wires that can pass right through that can be disconnected inside the boat at the instrument and then pulled out through the opening are Blue Sea Systems Clam Connectors.

All sizes and styles of both types of these are available at most marine stores and chandlers, try Defender, West Marine etc.

Inside the base of our mast is a weatherproof plastic connector normally used to hook up trailer lights. Works like a charm and didn't cost an arm or leg.
