Marine routers

We have recently acquired a racing yacht, about 10 years old. For internet, it has a silver Ericsson mobile broadband box in the electronics cabinet, but I can’t get into the cabinet well enough to work out what model.

NO documentation, no markings on the device, of course. And horrible range, but it works fine close into shore.

Just a silver, vertically mounted device about 400mm x 300mm with the usual lights in a vertical column.

Any ideas how I’d identify what it is, I guess it must be post-CDMA, so not older than (say) 2007-8, because there are some old CDMA labels in there.

Thanks

Re: Marine routers

it's better if You can attach photo, on attached - w25

and what You what from it? work offshore? improve speed or etc?
You need it for race? for work?

You wrote - fine work close to shore, but it could be problem not box, it could be problem Your mobile company - in Greece stable internet more than 30 miles, on Malta - 5 miles and no internet at all

Re: Marine routers

Well done Vlad, that's it. Any guesses when they were made? But I can hit Ericsson up for that.

I would have posted a photo, but the boat is being delivered up the Queensland coast to Airlie.

And the use is most definitely racing! This is a Cookson 50, canting keel, the whole thing. Goes real quick when hotted up, we've seen 12 knots Bsp in 10 kts wind, and 22 kts Bsp in 20 kts wind ... dunno what happens yet when you get lots of wind from TWA 110

Cheers
