malfunctioning Autohelm6000

We were doing a passage this past winter and my Autohelm 6000 autopilot acted up , my wife and I ended up hand steering for 4 days . When we engaged the autopilot , it would work for about 60 seconds , then the alarm would sound and it would disengage . Just curious if anybody had a similar situation and what the problem may be . We are on the hard in Curacao and there doesn't appear to be too many qualified electronics technicians in this area.

Re: malfunctioning Autohelm6000

My 6000 did that once. I found the screws that hold the rudder reference were loose. The pilot would shut down after about a minute.
