MacBook Pro Retina Display

I looked at one today. In order to use the high resolution you have to download a 3rd party software package (free). Apple runs the Retina display at somewhere around 1400 x 1200. I forget the exact resolution. The salesman said there was a rumor that one of the major graphics packages was going to be released optimized for the high res. display.

Only the retina machines, not the revised regular Pro :-( hence my original post. I want one to hide away behind the chart table w/ a remote screen, and don't need the retina display, BUT I want to have the HDMI. I can get mac-mini (w/ HDMI) but its blown out of the water performance wise by the retina pro. It is also 3x the price of a mac mini.
