Lowrance Link-2 VHF USB Charging Solution

Hello all,

I have the link-2 handheld VHF radio and am looking for a way to charge this via USB.

Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Regards,
Simon

Thumbs up Re: Lowrance Link-2 VHF USB charging solution

Hi simon, I am not absolutely sure, but most Lawrence hand held VHF's are 12 volt battery supply. and as far as I am aware the USB power is standardised at 5 volt... so there is no way you can charge direct from USB. But you may well be able to, direct from your solar panels. The positive answer is to ask Lawrence, in the US, they are usually very helpful, compared to many of their dealers who apparently know little or nothing about the items they are selling except which one gives them the greatest commission... Happy sailing. h the boat.

Re: Lowrance Link-2 VHF USB charging solution

A quick google check reveals that your radio uses a 7.4 volt battery. As already mentioned, USB power is 5 volts. So, there isn't going to be any easy, off-the-shelf solution.

That's a shame, it's a great radio but not so good for the grab bag if you can't recharge it via solar.

I might buy a spare battery or two for it then. Or a second USB charged VHF for the grab bag

Re: Lowrance Link-2 VHF USB charging solution

This is driving me a little nuts.

I can't find a 12volt charging cable for the link 2. Or a place to buy extra batteries.

Not getting any reply from Lowrance either.
