Laptop Charger Noise

I have a Panasonic Toughbook that I charge on board with a Rocketfish 12 portable laptop charger plugged into a 12v outlet. I've noticed that when I plug my headphone out to our Jenson on-board stereo line in with the power supply plugged in, the static makes the sound unintelligible. As soon as I unplug the power cable, the sound is fine. Both the power cable and the mini plug cable have ferrite cores.

Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

Have you tried a different power supply?? if it was music editing software we where talking about i would suggest using software that had a DC offset switch. But sounds like the power supply is faulty.

Re: Laptop Charger Noise

If it sounds like a zip zip noise then it is your power supply, either the cable is not big enough for the amps or is too long and you are getting voltage drop. does it happen straight away or after a minuit or so .

I believe there are power line filters commonly used with hi power car amps and other stereo equipment. Been a while since I was into that so not positive it would help but maybe so. Someone else on here with much electrical knowledge may chime in and confirm or deny. I've heard two way radios over my pc speakers so if it's in any way similar it wouldn't help.
