JRC Growls

Yep...you heard right...Just installed my (like new/used) JRC 1000 on my 10 ft. radar mast. When I press transmit and the antenna rotates, I hear a faint growling sound. Almost like a chicken rotisserie. Has anyone else experienced this?

There are plastic gear teeth inside your scanner, mine's the same, makes a gear tooth noise.

Re: JRC Growls

It was funny...I talked to the sales person (kid) at Stickly sail boat show in Jack London Square here. I told him I had a JRC 100 that growled when I pressed transmit. His first reply was..."Whats a JRC 1000"? I get better feed back here than from the factory rep!...

that's very much the case nowadays..

I was speaking to a gasket rubber-rep the other day and I was after a specific density, but it wasn't on the datasheet: only the Sh hardness and colour etc. he put me in touch with 'technical sales'. They didn't know either, nor how to calculate it, eventhough they had the volume and the weight of the material.. once I'd got these two numbers I ended having to email them the data i'd originally asked for from them!

Re: JRC Growls

Mine's the same. A few times now I've been sat on the deck enjoying the quiet of the evening and wondered what the noise was, only to realise....... Actually it's helpful; saves me from flat batteries.
