Iridium prepaid rule change

Just got this notice, kinda sucks.

Quote:
Due to a change in Iridium's prepaid policy, as of December 17th, 2013 any unused prepaid minutes that you purchased more than three years ago will completely expire from your account balance even if your prepaid account has not yet expired. Minutes purchased within the past three years will continue to remain available until the account expires or 3 years after the date of purchase.

This new policy applies only to unused minutes that have rolled over when the prepaid account was extended by adding a voucher before its expiration. The new policy does not override your current SIM card expiration date, nor does it affect the overall validity of your prepaid account. All validity rules remain the same. In order to keep your prepaid SIM account active, you must add validity / minutes before it expires.

Minutes that have rolled over will expire after 3 years or when the prepaid account itself expires, whichever comes first.

Please note that for any customer who has purchased a 3.000 or 5.000 e-voucher since December 17, 2009 and going forward, a four year expiry period on units will apply (was two years).

Unit balances and expiry information is available to customers by calling 2888 or by sending a blank SMS to 2888 from their Iridium handset. Prepaid subscribers will be given the total number of units that may expire if not used before December 17, 2013.

After December 17, 2013, users will be given the balance of minutes that may expire if not used within the next six months. This message will be based on the oldest prepaid voucher purchase activity and minutes that are subject to expiry within the next six months, if applicable.

Re: Iridium prepaid rule change

I haven't seen that notice. Was it from Iridium or a reseller ?

Dealing with the resellers is kind of like dealing with cellphone vendors; profit through obscurity.

We're seriously thinking about ditching ours because the service (administrative and connectivity) has been too poor to warrant the cost or give us peace of mind.

Re: Iridium prepaid rule change

Ok, we've been dealing with Outfitter Satellite Inc.

I see a pdf buried in their latest spam (disguised as an invoice with zero balance, as usual). Maybe I'll find it in there. Thanks for making me look.
