As part of the Iridium NEXT upgrade, there will, eventually, be a new Iridium Go like solution. But it will be probably 18 months before that happens. Right now Iridium Go prices, as mentioned already, are pretty much down to near the vendor cost. There is practically no margin left. There are few alternatives also, the primary one being Globalstar's new SatFi2 which is faster, ie: fast enough to browse the web when needed, and cheaper, but has a limited coverage area compared with Iridium.
Iridium's first focus with NEXT is new
broadband hardware, Iridium Certus, which is in the same class as Inmarsat Fleet
Broadband but with 100% pole-to-pole coverage and fully solid state
hardware (no moving parts). Iridium Pilot which is similar but older, is still available and similar in performance to Inmarsat Fleet One.
In any case, if you need a
satellite phone or Iridium Go like device right now or in the next 6-12 months, you should go ahead and get one. If you don't need it for 24 months, then you should probably wait for new solutions that will be available by then.
