iridium doesn't support windows 10

just to let you all know. Iridium 9575 extreme doesn't have a driver software to support a pc running windows 10.

TTheir laconic reply has been - yeah, maybe we'll have one in 6 months or so.

are they nuts? all new windows computer have been running windows 10 for a year or more and they don't have a driver??

anyone out there who works for iridium lease PM me and tell me differently

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Im not surprised.

I kept one of my laptops as a win8.1 rather than upgrade simply because a LOT of my programs would not run on win 10. Even versions of Office!

I like 10... Just the lack of drivers even for their own products is pretty poor.

No, its correct. So dont upgrade to win10. Thats why i havent.
Iridium is crazy. But tgats what you get from a company who makes so much they just dont care about the customer.

You can add the AxcessPoint to get a WiFi connection instead of USB.

Hi Carsten,

According to the guys at UUplus [the email service for the bandwidth impaired that we use with our Iridium Extreme]:

Quote:
There is a bug in the Iridium USB driver for the [Iridium sat phone models] 9555/9575 that messes up the [Iridium] RUDICS connect on Win10. No problems with Win8 and Win7 [and Mac OS X] (we no longer support XP). Iridium knows about the bug but hasn't updated the driver since 2012.
It does seem odd that Iridium obviously doesn't care... or perhaps this is their way of pushing their satellite data consumers toward their IridiumGO! device?

Iridium RUDICS is the key on our sat phones for making data transfer as efficient as possible. It is a shame it cannot be used with the GO! since that is an IP device, and is therefore hobbled by the inefficient [on low bandwidth] internet protocols by comparison.

If anyone is interested, there are more details on our Satellite Communications page we maintain primarily for our own sanity trying to keep up with our needs...

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful...

Cheers! Bill
