Bought a new Standard Horizion HX 851 portable radio yesterday for a little over $200. I am amazed at the value of it.

NMEA output for chart plotter

Hi AuroaGH,

I just found this thread after looking at the OpenCPN thread for MacOS. I've had similar thoughts about this. In fact I picked up some sunspots (sunspot world dot com) to play with to have a look. 802.15 networking, accelerometers, etc.

I like the idea of the iPhone for this though, as its something that I'll have around anyway.

How much progress have you made?
