iPad Cases

I'm looking for a marine case for my new iPad, preferable a hard case that can be mounted in the cockpit. What's the latest and greatest out there now?

Re: iPad Cases

Pelican makes a case I would swear by. Have used and cruised with them for years for my laptop, and plan to do the same with my ipad. Check the Pelican website, but I believe the model for the ipad is 1065, wich will accomodate it without a binder- type cover. Others models may accept a binder. They have great foam padding, and are waterproof to 10 ft. If the o- ring is intact.

As someone who has a history of breaking expensive electronics I try to keep up on the most "robust" cases out there. For years I was an Otter Box fan, had a couple in buy kayaks and on my iPhones.

Then I discovered Griffin Technologies Survivor line. I have it on my personal iPhone, work iPhone and on both iPads. Be sure to watch the video where they spinout a Chrysler 300 over a iPhone in a Survivor case. The BIG downside to these cases is the poor visibility in direct sunlight. But if I take the iPad under the dodger, it is fine.

Re: iPad Cases

Andres industries offer an excellent iPad (all models) waterproof and impact resistant case.

It is the only case that I found that allows the iPad to charge while in the case and still remain waterproof. They also have many accessories for mounting on boats and user user replaceable membrane and push button if they ever get damaged.

Available at moxiware.com or BLyatch.com

Re: iPad Cases

I just bought (in New Zealand) a Lifedge iPad Case. I have owned other iPad cases, but I think this one looks great. I have not used it enough yet, but was told that at a recent marine trade show they had an iPad in a fish tank for their demo.

I'll see how it works.
