Ipad & Activecaptain

I am curious to know which navigation apps folks might recommend for use with an ipad that have support for Activecaptain. I looked at inavx but did not see an explicit reference to support for Activecaptain and thus was hesitant to drop the $50.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Ipad & Activecaptain

Have you tried asking the folks at ActiveCaptain?

I am not much of a fan of active captain, but the Garmin app supports it.

The Garmin app is free, us charts are cheap, or you can get all of North America for les then 45$.

After you download the app, you have to log into active captain to download the info.

More info is on the SSCA discussion forum, active captain has a presence there to help folks use their products.

Garmin app works. Don't know about others. I have InavX too, but I don't see Active Captain supported on it.

Re: Ipad & Activecaptain

Inavx doesnt work with Active Captain.

For a FREE method to use Active Captain download the Garmin Ap but NOT any charts. You have the basic world chart and can down load Active Captain info onto it.

I also use Navamatics and had the charts in the USA...but you buy the charts first.

Below is a recent press release for PolarView MX and Active Captain, not quite sure if this is what your looking for or not.
PolarView MX has been released for iPhone/iPads with full ActiveCaptain support. Many of you know PolarView for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux (also with ActiveCaptain support). Now you can use their product on iOS too. The $3.99 product has a fantastic price for the capabilities. It supports all US NOAA raster and vector charts. It quilts them together to provide a seamless display with course up rotation.

I'm liking the garmin weather radar for coastal. Garmin has active captain which I forgot about. Mark has the easiest solution. I used navionics as a back up chart kit and the garmin app for its weather radar. Made for an excellent cruise with a nice easy way to add markets that I don't usually put on the chart plotter ( navionics). Garmin radar weather was excellent for looking out at the world and timing the t storms of this past week. Added to the decision process.

Re: Ipad & Activecaptain

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up going with the Seaiq app based on the cost. For the most part it appears to have what I need for now if a bit slow.
