Interfacing ???

Hi there

I have been reading various posts and haven't managed to find anything yet which will answer what I'm looking for.

I have an AP35 pilot, simrad HS70 GPS compass, furuno fr-7062 radar, furuno gp-37 GPS and windows xp running maxsea v12. Now I am looking to interface them all together so I can plot routes on maxsea to the fishing grounds and the pilot will follow those routes. I have been looking at the manual and most of it seems ok with the inputs of the instruments onto the NI300X panel, the bit that confuses me is the connection between the pilot and maxsea. Does the signal travel both ways down the serial port connection or do I need to take an output from the pilot into the pc and then out from pc back into the pilot!

Thanks for your help in advance
