I have put together a low cost solution to display data from your instrument system on your
iPhone. All that is needed is a PC on board that is connected to the instrument system. For a while now I have had a a
Raymarine PC interface box (E85001) installed installed to provide position data to a PC running
Fugawi software used for course planning and position plotting.
By installing the "GPSgate" client app (
Real time GPS Tracking solutions - GpsGate.com) and adding the TCP server as an output. Then configuring the PC
wifi hardware as an Ad-Hoc
network. (IP address and
ports need to be set to match in the app)
I get
NMEA data streamed to the
iPhone which is displayed via the "Midi WiFi" app (
Marine Instrument Display WiFi (MID WiFi) for iPhone and iPad (Sailing) and the
WiFi upgrade). The app is also capable of supporting polar data and providing sailing performance numbers.
