Inexpensive Wind Sensor

I have a Garmin 741xs Chartplotter and I need a compatible wind sensor that will integrate. Has to be very low cost.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Re: Inexpensive Wind Sensor

I don't think anything is cheap...

the maretron wind sensor would work.

I think a simrad one with a simnet plug should also work. not one of the analog ones.

NASA makes a less expensive nmea 183 sensor. That's if your instrument is 183.

I am sure the Garmin will accept 0183.

Used would be the way to go. Can't be hard to find a used 0183 wind instrument.

Windex, cheap and reliable. Just couldn't resist. Will a plotter be able to factor in wind on course and speed or do you just want it to display speed and direction of the wind??

Re: Inexpensive Wind Sensor

Here is the one I bought. Windspeed and direction compatible with Garmin chart plotter.
