ICOM M802 hangs on start screen

Hi,

Just installed an M802 and it hangs on the start screen saying IC-M802 and the MMSI (No MMSI! in my case). According to the manual one should just press any key to get rid of the "warning" and be able to use the radio, but it is totally frozen and I can't get it to exit.

I have tested that the controller works by entering the "adjustment mode" and that works just fine!

Any ideas?

I seem to remember that if you have no MMSI entered in you have to press "ENT" (or some other button) to continue past the first screen but it was a long time ago that I had this problem so I may be wrong

Tried all the buttons, and nothing seems to work...

Any one with any idea? Supposed to go sailing in a week from now, so it's getting a bit urgent...

Pull the power cord and let it sit. The power button doesn't shut everything off.

Post a picture of the screen in the hung state without having touched any buttons.

It has been disconnected thru the night and it shows the same.

Attached is a picture of the screen, it is just stuck there, and it doesn't matter if I press any key...

Mine does exactly the same thing after a lightning strike.

I've had a very similar issue with my M801e. Purchased new about six months ago the screen would freeze apparently at random. Solution was to turn it off at power source and turn it on again. I sent it back to Icom Australia. A technician said he had seen the issue before and could be fixed under warranty.

I'm currently waiting on the radio's return. Unfortunately a clerical error resulted in the radio being sent to me in Perth on the other side of the country by road not air and I had to leave on a Fremantle to Bali race with a stand-in organised by my excellent local supplier. This worked well. Moral: if you've got a deadline ensure the replacement works or limp along with what you've got.

UPDATE:

When I disconnect the tuner it seems to work... Will dig a bit more in to it, but with a bit of luck it's just the tuner (or even better the tuner cable)!

Another update:

Turns out the radio works just fine after replacing the cable to the tuner.
Haven't had time to figure out why, but after fixing the ground and making some turns on the antenna cable as a choke all the leds flicker a bit less and the gas alarm doesn't go off when I transmit so I could do a radio test and it worked perfect!
