A much better bet would be to fork out for a
Pactor Modem. See
SCS - the PACTOR creators - controller
Then with the free Airmail/Getfax software
Airmail Downloads you can send/receive emails as well as obtaining high quality fax from direct digital connection. Sailmail offers a world wide
email service by non-profit making annual subscription. Winlink similar & free but you need to be a
Radio Ham.
My set-up allows me to turn on/off
radio, auto-select frequency according to propagation & tune radio directly from software on my laptop. The GetFax application associated with Airmail is pre-configured with all the Fax stations world wide.
You have a great rig - why not use it's full potential?
