Icom m127 VHF Dark Screen

anyone have any ideas on how to repair or replace dark screen for Icom m127 vhf. I have the vhf totally a part with a little glass screen (1.75"x3.25") in size that is almost 100% blacked out. The glass faces the outside of the radio and the inside is pure perfect white sheet of something? I assume it is a LCD display that I might be able to peel out and maybe scrape clean with a razor or I saw on line try heating with a heat gun and clean with a pencil eraser ? Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Chuck

The most prudent thing to do I would think is send it back to ICOM for replacement, you may or may not be able to order a replacement screen directly from them, not all companies will support owner repairs. Unless of course they don't support your older radio.

Might be a good time to upgrade

Icom no longer carries repair parts. This unit works perfectly except can't read entire screen, it is flush mounted and it's perfect working twin is below in the pilothouse. I read the other blog before but my sceen justs pops out with a screwdriver, very easy to remove, 4 snap clips, one in each corner.
