Icom IC-M423 MMSI change

Due to flag change, we need to change VHF's MMSI. Any way to DIY on Icom IC-M423? Sending it somewhere via post and paying for a such a "job" is not economically feasible. This was purchased in EU, so US regulations should not be applicable and a single MMSI is restriction of my ownership rights.

Re: Icom IC-M423 MMSI change

Some other threads have talked about this so do a search. In any case, when we re-registered our boat we had to remove the M423 and send it to the local ICOM dealer to change the programmed MMSI. First time MMSI programming can be done by you during initial setup, but subsequent MMSI changes must be done with a special tool that only dealers can get. Any dealers local to you?

Re: Icom IC-M423 MMSI change

Thanks. It would not be economically feasible to send it to ICOM dealer. What a nonsense! Total waste of time and resources! I doubt ICOM with such restrictions is inline with EU laws. I just contacted VersperMarine with request to change MMSI on XB8000 and got reply in minutes with authorisation code. Job done in 15 minutes.

P.S. WTF it is possible to buy cables and programming software from third parties https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CS-M92D-M...-/301061155479

Re: Icom IC-M423 MMSI change

Anyone done this DIY? For IC-M423(G) according to this official document https://icomuk.co.uk/files/icom/PDF/...Guide_2018.pdf CS-M92D software and OPC-OPC-478/U/UC + OPC-980 cable are needed.

Anyone can share CS-M92D software?

Any idea if OPC-478 would be fine for IC-M423(G)? What U/UC means? For other models OPC-478UC is a must and in this case it looks like U or UC are optional.

Any idea about compatible one e.g.

Re: Icom IC-M423 MMSI change

Probably I will get OPC-478 from Ali or Ebay. For OPC-980 cable just Amphenol LTW Standard B connector, model: LTW BD-08BFFA-LL7001 http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...er-159381.html and then cut OPC-478 3.5mm jack off and connect directly to Amphenol LTW.

Please share CS-M92D software. PM.

Re: Icom IC-M423 MMSI change

WARNING: Some OPC-478 cables sold on Aliexpress could be counterfeit. Ask seller to confirm PL2303TA chip and check reviews for PL2303TA chip and functionality confirmation! Above Aliexpress link does not guarantee chip authenticity at the time of your purchase.

Prolific Warning Notice (PL2303TA chip manufacturer): "It is confirmed that counterfeit (fake) PL-2303HX Rev A USB to Serial Controller ICs using Prolific's trademark logo and device drivers were being sold in the China market. Counterfeit IC products show exactly the same outside chip markings but generally are of poor quality and causes driver compatibility issues. We issue this warning to all our customers and consumers to avoid confusion and false purchase."

Re: Icom IC-M423 MMSI change

Hi,

I've bought a used IC-M323G, which uses the CS-M324 #01 programming software. Does anyone have it ?

Also, for the wiring, they are talking about "OPC-478UC + cable adapter board (supplied with CSM323.001)". Does anyone what this cable adapter board is, because I didn't find any occurences of it on the net ?

Also, if someone has the service manual it would be nice.

Thanks !

Re: Icom IC-M423 MMSI change

I've got the OPC-980 cable, the OPC-478 cable and the CS-M92D software. I'm trying to clone a M423GE set, but keep getting error message ' Connected transceiver is not compatible model' whilst trying to read.
I have tried all subversions of the M423 listed in the software with the same result.

Anyone any idea? Can it be that the software version I have is to old?

Re: Icom IC-M423 MMSI change

I have the cloning software for the m423 and m92d. I also have the cloning software for the M93D. I do also have the 6 digit serial numbers. But when you install the programs you need to prepend the serial numbers with a 6 digit product I'd. I have lost the product I'd so if there are any one that knows the product I'd of these cloning software programs then please share. I can then share back the program. I have searched google and can find the 6 digit product code for many of icom's cloning software. But not for the ones listed above
