Icom IC-F7000 Feedback

Is anyone using a IC-F7000 on board or have any knowledge of this model?

I'm interested in knowing the pros and cons of this radio. Clearly it doesn't have any HF DSC function but other than that, what is it like to use in a maritime environment.

Re: Icom IC-F7000 Feedback

The ICOM IC-F7000 02 is mainly a land moble HF radio. Its supports ALE and selecall bu not DCS. It does have GPS and NEMA output. It has a remote head and body allowing the units to be seperated if needed. You can also find a very similar model know as the F8101 33 from icom.

They are not designed for marine use or channels so you would need to program every channel you want to use. Requires a bit more knowledge of the frequencies required. For US users these are marine certified by FCC.

ALso note the is a ICOM f7000 01 VHF P25 radio with a similar look so make sure your buying what you think your buying when looking online.

Forgot about this one, Check out the ICOM GM800, Similar to the 7000/8000 series but designed for marine and meets GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System)

There is also a GM600 for VHF
