Icom 802 headphone trouble?

I have an Icom M802 that is transmitting and receiving great. When I plug in my stereo headphones I hear my own voice coming back through the headphones when I transmit. My voice sounds as though I am underwater or off frequency (kind of cartoonish) . I have tried plugging in a stereo to mono adapter with no change. I do use the "function" 4 key to turn off the speaker... Help?

Re: Icom 802 headphone trouble?

My first guess would be that RF is getting into the headphones. Try ferrites at both ends of the headphone cable, or replace the headphone cord with something better shielded.
